William Kirwa: A Finance and Business Strategy Consultant Redefining Agribusiness

William Kirwa is a career banker, financial advisor and experienced agricultural expert with solid experience in banking operations; retail, corporate and agricultural lending; microfinance; investment banking and total product propositions to high-net-worth personal clients and management agricultural enterprises. He has over 20 years of leadership experience and training in banking, agricultural and non-governmental organisations (NGO) sectors in Kenya and academic institutions. Additionally, he has solid experience in board leadership and director in leading companies and corporations. Mr. Kirwa is the founder of Kilimoshop.com. He is married and a father to eight children. What was your Chevening Cohort, what did you study and in which University? I was in the Chevening Cohort 2000/2001 and I went to the University of Birmingham. How was your Chevening experience and how did it or has it changed/impacted your life? It was an eye-opener to my career world. It shaped my leadership and career placements as well as working with diverse people. As a Chevening Leader, what would you consider your proudest moment or greatest achievement? Turning around the Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC) and being key in establishing an agribusiness unit at Strathmore Business School Who or what has had the greatest influence on your life? The Leadership roles I have undertaken have shaped my life to a large extent. Leading people has influenced me greatly. What is the most important lesson you have learned in life? That success requires focus, commitment and patience. How would you like to be remembered? As a man who made a difference in people’s lives and contributed significantly to a better world.
